Between the poos...

I know it's been a while since my last post, but I am sure you can understand why. Life with Callum is everything I expected and more, way more!

I've not had much experience with babies, try none at all, so taking care of my own for the last 6 weeks has been quite exciting and tiring. I have neglected most of my friends, but I expect that if they are true friends they will understand and be happy to welcome me back once I feel ready.

Callum and I have had a few excursions downtown, a few trips to the malls, etc. and we are getting better at it every day. He has resolved himself to the fact that he is going to be dragged through endless shopping trips until he gets older and can complain more! It has been fun playing dress up with him. I dreaded the baby clothes because you have to dig through girls stuff before being able to find anything for the boys, but as it turns out he looks adorable in anything so it doesn't matter.

We had Callum weighed today and he is now a strapping young lad weighing in at a staggering 10lbs. 2oz.! If I can get him to stretch out long, I will measure his length as well. He seems to still like having the wee frog legs.

Breast feeding has been a bit of a nightmare. At first because he was so small, his jaw was under developed and he couldn't latch on properly so I had to use a nipple shield. It was really awkward and very frustrating, but now that he is a bit bigger we have moved on from the J.J. as we fondly referred to it. J.J. is because of Janet Jackson and her nipple shield incident. Now the biggest problem we have is that my milk production is quite low and therefore I have to supplement him with formula and that makes me sad. Not only that, but it's a heck of a lot of work pumping, formula feeding and breast feeding. I am very committed to making this work though. I have started drinking a tea called Momma's Tea that is supposed to aid in breast milk production - fingers crossed that it works.

Well, it's 9:30p.m. which means I have to jet. We are trying to set a routine to make life a bit more predictable and Callum knows he gets fed at this time. Would you say no to a brute like him?

Yummy Mummy Extraordinaire, Allison.
